RC Lens, abbreviated as "Lens", was established in 1906 and is a professional football club located in the northern city of Lens in the Pas-de-Calais department. They are nicknamed "les Sang et Or (the Blood and Gold)". The club's most glorious moment in history was winning the Ligue 1 title in 1998, a surprise victory, and the following year they made their debut in the UEFA Champions League. In 1926, Kid Fenton from England became the first star to play for Lens, serving for 8 seasons. The same year, Lens' first fan organization was officially established. Ultimately, they claimed their first title in the Artois region championship.
