Lazio Sports Club (abbreviated as "Lazio", English name: S.S. Lazio) was founded on January 9, 1900, located in Rome, Italy, and is a team in the Serie A league, spending most of its time in the top division.
In 1927, it resisted merging and became the only team in Rome not incorporated into the Rome Club. It won its first Coppa Italia in 1958 and its first Serie A championship in the 1973-74 season, but later fell into a low period due to the death of key players and the coach. In 1980, it was relegated to Serie B due to a match-fixing scandal, but returned in 1983.
After Claudio Lotito took over in 1992 and invested heavily, the club entered a golden era under coach Eriksson. In 1999, they won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, and in 2000, they achieved a double by winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia, becoming the first football club to be listed on the Italian stock market. In 2002, due to financial scandals, they sold key players, but after Lotito's acquisition in 2004, the club stabilized operations.
