Team Introduction

1. FC Magdeburg, founded in 1896, is a football club located in the city of Magdeburg in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is a professional football club in Germany.

In the 1964-65 season, Magdeburg finished in mid-table again and successfully defended their cup title, becoming the first team in East German football history to win back-to-back championships, defeating FC Carl Zeiss Jena 2-1 in the Berlin final. In 1969, Magdeburg won the East German Cup for the third time, ultimately establishing themselves among the top teams in East German football. The 2000-01 season was very successful for Magdeburg. The club not only won the league title with outstanding results, scoring over 120 goals, but also reached the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal. Additionally, the club won their fourth Saxony-Anhalt Cup.

In the 2021-22 season, Magdeburg continued their good form in the following season, winning only 12 matches, thus being crowned champions of the 3. Liga and returning to the 2. Bundesliga for the 2022-23 season. In their first season back in the second tier, the team finished 11th in the 2023-24 season, and the club reached the Round of 16 in the DFB-Pokal.
