Team introduction

Newcastle United F.C., founded in 1881, is a professional football club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is commonly known as "The Magpies".

The club joined the Football League in 1893, winning the top-flight title three times between 1904 and 1909. They won the FA Cup for the first time in 1910, and again in 1924, 1927, 1951, 1952, and 1955. They won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969 (their first European trophy).

After the English Premier League was established in 1992, Kevin Keegan led the team to promotion to the Premier League in 1993, and finished as runners-up in the 1995-96 season. Alan Shearer joined the club in 1996 for a world-record transfer fee and became the club's all-time top scorer (206 goals). The team was relegated twice, in 2009 and 2016, but returned to the Premier League as champions of the Championship in the following years.

After the acquisition by the Saudi Public Investment Fund in 2021, Eddie Howe took charge. In the 2022-23 season, the team finished fourth in the Premier League and qualified for the Champions League. In the 2025 League Cup, they defeated Liverpool 2-1, ending a 56-year drought for domestic titles (their first title since 1955).
