New York City Football Club, founded on May 21, 2013, is co-owned by English Premier League giants Manchester City and MLB powerhouse the New York Yankees. The club joined MLS in 2015.
In 2021, the team defeated Portland Timbers in a penalty shootout to win the MLS Cup, marking a remarkable transformation from a newcomer to a champion. Leveraging the global resources of the City Football Group and the Yankees' deep understanding of the New York sports market, New York City FC is gradually becoming a significant force on the East Coast of the United States.
