The Norwegian national men's football team (commonly referred to as "Norway", English name: Norway national football team) was established on April 30, 1902, and is a national-level football team managed by the Norwegian Football Association.
In its history, the Norwegian team has qualified for the FIFA World Cup three times (1938, 1994, 1998), with the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France being its most outstanding performance, where it defeated Brazil in the group stage and advanced to the round of 16. The team's only experience in the UEFA European Championship was in the 2000 Netherlands-Belgium European Championship, but it was eliminated in the group stage. Since 2000, the Norwegian team has been in a long period of decline and has failed to qualify for major tournaments for many consecutive years.
With the emergence of young players like Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard, the Norwegian national team once saw a glimmer of hope in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, but ultimately finished third in the group and failed to qualify. In the 2024 European Championship qualifiers, the Norwegian team achieved a record of 3 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses, ranking third in the group and once again missing out on the main tournament. Currently, the team is in a period of transition between old and new players, but Norway has gradually shed its image as an easy opponent and is showing the potential to return to the international stage.
