JEF United Chiba, established in 1946, is a professional football club located in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
The club's predecessor was the Furukawa Electric Football Club, which, as a company team, won the Japan Soccer League championship twice, the Emperor's Cup four times, and the JSL Cup three times. Furukawa Electric Football Club also won the Asian Club Championship in 1986-87, which is the highest honor for Asian clubs, making them the first Japanese football club to achieve this accolade.
From 1998 to 2000, the club struggled to remain in the J.League and began a series of efforts to become a competitive team. Since hiring Ivica Osim in 2003, JEF United has actively competed for the league title every year despite limited resources and low attendance.
