The Serbia national football team (abbreviated as "Serbia", in English: Serbia national football team) was established in 1920 and is managed by the Football Association of Serbia as the national level football team.
This team, which was formerly known as the Yugoslavia national team, officially began competing internationally under its current name after Montenegro's independence in 2006. Historically, Serbian football was known worldwide as the "Brazil of Europe", having won third place in the inaugural World Cup in 1930 and a gold medal at the 1960 Olympics.
As an important force in Eastern European football, the Serbian national team is known for producing technically skilled players, particularly excelling in long-range shots and set pieces, having developed legendary stars such as Stoichkov and Mihajlović. The team has performed better in the World Cup than in the European Championship, having qualified for the World Cup finals three times (2018, 2022, etc.), but has yet to make a breakthrough in the European Championship. The 2024 European Championship marked the team's first participation under the name of Serbia; although they did not advance past the group stage, they demonstrated the resurgence of this Eastern European powerhouse.
