Crystal Palace Football Club (abbreviated as "Palace", English name: Crystal Palace F.C.) was founded in 1905 and is a professional football club located in Selhurst, Croydon, in South London, England. The team's origins can be traced back to 1861, and early on, Crystal Palace competed in lower leagues until it was promoted to the then top-tier league, the Football League First Division, in 1969.
In 1920, it became a founding member of the Football League Third Division and won the championship to be promoted to the Second Division. In 1969, it entered the top tier for the first time, and during the 1970s, under the management of Terry Venables, the team was promoted twice. The "Team of the Eighties" briefly led the league.
In 1984, Steve Coppell's management marked the beginning of a golden era, with promotion to the top division in 1989, a heartbreaking loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup final in 1990, and achieving the club's best league finish of third in the 1990-91 season. In 1992, they became a founding member of the Premier League but fell into a "yo-yo" pattern, facing bankruptcy and restructuring twice between 1998 and 2013, before returning to the Premier League through the playoffs in 2013.
Since 2013, they have remained in the Premier League, reaching the FA Cup final again in 2016. In the 2024-25 season, under the management of Oliver Glasner, they defeated Manchester City 1-0 to win the FA Cup for the first time in the club's history, securing qualification for European competition (later adjusted to the UEFA Europa Conference League due to rule changes).
