Team Introduction

Suwon FC (abbreviated as "Suwon FC", English name: Suwon Football Club) is a professional football club based in Suwon, South Korea. In March 2003, the city of Suwon established the semi-professional Suwon City Football Club to connect local school teams with Suwon Samsung Bluewings, joining the then K2 League (later known as the Korean National League).

In 2004, they won the Korean President's Cup for the first time. From 2005 to 2009, they reached the league playoffs four times but did not win the championship. In the 2010 season, they defeated Daegu FC to win the league title. After the 2011 season, head coach Kim Chang-kyun left when his contract expired, and youth team coach Jo Deok-ji took over.

In December 2012, the team announced its transition to a fully professional status and was renamed Suwon FC, gaining approval to join the professional league. In 2013, they made their debut in the K League Challenge (second tier), finishing fourth and becoming the only team in that league to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. In the 2015 season, Suwon FC finished third in the regular season and eliminated Seoul E-Land and Daegu FC in the promotion playoffs, subsequently defeating Busan, a top-tier team, 3-0 in the relegation playoffs, successfully advancing to the 2016 K League Classic (top tier).
