RC Strasbourg Alsace, commonly known as "Strasbourg", was founded in 1906 and is a professional football club based in Strasbourg, Alsace. The club is nicknamed "Le Racing". The period from 1976 to 1980 marked the club's glorious moments, winning the league championship twice.
The club's development has been full of ups and downs, with notable achievements in the 1960s and 1990s, reaching the final of the Coupe de France and participating in European competitions. However, it has also experienced several severe lows, including financial crises and the unfortunate relegation to the fifth tier of French football in the early 2000s and in 2010.
The 2011-12 season marked the beginning of a remarkable "five consecutive jumps", first quickly ascending from the fifth tier back to the fourth tier, winning the third tier (National League) championship in 2016 to promote to Ligue 2, and successfully returning to Ligue 1 as Ligue 2 champions in 2017! After returning to the top league, the team steadily established itself, lifting the French League Cup trophy for the third time in 2019.
In June 2023, the club entered a new chapter with the acquisition by the BlueCo consortium. The 2024-25 season saw an outstanding performance, finishing seventh in Ligue 1, earning qualification for the next season's UEFA Europa League. This storied Alsatian team is embarking on a new journey.
