Team Introduction

Stockport County Football Club (commonly known as "Stockport County") was founded on January 1, 1883, and is a professional football club located in Stockport, Greater Manchester, in the northwest of England.

The club was originally named "Heaton Norris Rangers" and changed to its current name in 1890. The team's home ground is Edgeley Park, nicknamed "The Hatters" due to the local tradition of hat-making. Stockport joined the Football League in 1900, and although it has competed in lower divisions for a long time, it has also had notable performances, such as reaching the second tier in the 1990s and staying there for five seasons, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the League Cup.

The team faced financial difficulties and was relegated consecutively from 2009 to 2011, dropping to the National League at one point. However, they made a steady recovery, winning the National League title in the 2021-22 season to return to League Two, and then they were promoted to League One as League Two champions in the 2023-24 season.
