Swansea City A.F.C., commonly known as Swansea, was founded in 1912 and is a professional football club based in Swansea, Wales.
Swansea City competed in the top tier of English football in the early 1980s, and then fluctuated in lower divisions for many years. The team won the Football League One title in the 2007/08 season, earning promotion to the Championship, and successfully reached the Premier League through the playoffs in the 2010/11 season, becoming the first Welsh team to qualify for the Premier League. After promotion, Swansea performed steadily, not only managing to avoid relegation multiple times but also winning the League Cup in the 2012/13 season, securing the club's first major English cup trophy and qualifying for European competition for the first time.
In the 2016/17 season, the team narrowly avoided relegation, but unfortunately dropped to the Championship the following year. After relegation, Swansea City came close to returning to the Premier League multiple times, reaching the playoff finals in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, but were unable to achieve their goal. The club continues to demonstrate competitiveness within the English football system with its distinctive style and resilient performances.
