Machida Zelvia Football Club (abbreviated as "Machida Zelvia", English name: FC Machida Zelvia) was established on November 30, 1988, and is located in Machida City, Tokyo, Japan.
In 2009, the club was renamed "Zelvia", a name that combines elements of the city tree, the Zelkova, and the city flower, the Salvia. The team returned to the J2 League through the playoffs in 2015, and after historically being promoted to the top league as J2 champions in 2023, the team made a stunning debut in the 2024 season, not only winning the first half championship but also securing AFC Champions League qualification with an impressive third place finish in the league, creating the best record for a promoted team.
In the 2024 season, under the leadership of the young coach Kuroda Go, the team has demonstrated the strength to compete with established powerhouses. From being excluded in 2009 due to insufficient attendance to standing on the AFC Champions League stage in the 2025-26 season, Machida Zelvia has completed a magnificent transformation from a regional team to a dark horse in the top league over fifteen years, writing a new legend in Japanese football.
