Team Introduction

The Turkey national football team (abbreviated as "Turkey", in English: Turkey national football team) was established in 1923 and is managed by the Turkish Football Federation as the national level football team.

The strategic shift in 1962 known as "leaving Asia for Europe" became a key turning point, allowing the team to grow in a high-level European football environment. In the early stages of this transformation, the Turkish team was often seen as a weak side, suffering heavy defeats from strong European teams. It wasn't until the mid-1990s that the team's strength began to significantly improve, achieving breakthroughs in the World Cup and European Championship finals.

The 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan witnessed the peak moment of Turkish football, as the team made it to the semifinals and ultimately secured third place. In the European Championship, Turkey has qualified for the final tournament six times, with their first appearance in the semifinals in 2008 marking their best historical achievement. These accomplishments signify that Turkish football has transformed from a "minnow team" to an important force in European football, and its development trajectory confirms the significant role of integrating into the European football system in enhancing strength.
