Watford Football Club (commonly known as "Watford", in English: Watford F.C.) was founded on January 1, 1881, and is a professional football club located in Watford, Hertfordshire, England.
With the support of Elton John and the leadership of coach Graham Taylor, Watford rose from the lower leagues starting in the late 1970s, ultimately finishing as runners-up in the old English First Division in the 1982/83 season and reaching the FA Cup final in 1984.
After experiencing several ups and downs with promotions and relegations, the club was acquired by the Italian Pozzo family in 2012 and returned to the Premier League by winning the Championship in the 2014/15 season. In recent years, Watford has fluctuated between the Premier League and the Championship, including reaching the FA Cup final again in 2019 and being promoted as Championship runners-up in the 2020/21 season, but often only staying for one season before being relegated again.
