West Bromwich Albion Football Club (abbreviated as "West Bromwich", English name: West Bromwich Albion F.C.) was founded in 1878 and is a professional football club located in the West Midlands region of England.
West Brom has experienced multiple promotions and relegations throughout its history, particularly between 2002 and 2010, when it was promoted to the Premier League four times and relegated three times, becoming known as a "yo-yo club" in English football. After returning to the Premier League as runners-up in the 2009/10 season, the team maintained a mid-table position in the Premier League for seven consecutive seasons. In 2016, the club was acquired by a Chinese consortium led by Lai Guochuan, becoming the first Premier League team controlled by capital from mainland China.
The team's performance in the 2017/18 season was inconsistent. Although there was a brief improvement in results after a mid-season managerial change, they ultimately were relegated to the Championship. In the following seasons, West Brom continued to oscillate between the Championship and the Premier League, including finishing as runners-up in the Championship in the 2019/20 season, but were relegated back to the Championship the following year.
