Yaroslavl Sinik Football Club (abbreviated as "Jaro", English name: Jaro) was established on December 18, 1965, after IF Drott ceased operations. Fans founded FF Jaro at Café Standardi, making it the first club in Finland to be named after a sponsor. It is a professional club based in Pietarsaari, Finland.
In 1966, the club was promoted to the lower division, and in 1968, it was coached by Reima Aho. In 1972, it was promoted to Ykkönen, and in 1979, it was promoted to Ykkönen again through the playoffs. In 1983, the club qualified for promotion but failed to achieve it, reaching the semifinals of the Finnish Cup instead. In 1986, the Englishman Richard Wilson served as both player and coach. In 1988, the club was promoted to the top division by defeating MyPa in a penalty shootout. The club was promoted to the top division in 1990 and had excellent results from 1991 to 1993 (historical best ranking, indoor football runner-up, league runner-up). In 1995, it finished fifth in the league and qualified for the Intertoto Cup. The club was relegated in 1998 and reached the Finnish Cup final in 1999, losing to FC Jokerit.
In 2001, the team returned to the top league through the playoffs. They successfully avoided relegation from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, they retired the jersey of player Eremenko. In 2009, the club faced financial difficulties but managed to avoid relegation under the coaching of Eremenko. In 2010, they came close to qualifying for the UEFA Europa League but fell short. In 2012, they avoided relegation again. In 2014, Emetis became the club's all-time top scorer. In 2015, they were relegated, but in 2024, they returned to the top league under the leadership of Stephen Ward.
