Atlanta United Football Club, abbreviated as "ATLUTD" and founded on April 16, 2014, is a professional soccer club based in Atlanta, United States.
The team joined MLS in 2017, founded by Home Depot co-founder Arthur Blank. In 2018, they won the MLS Cup championship by defeating the Portland Timbers in front of a record crowd of 73,000 home fans, becoming the fastest expansion team to win the title.
During the tenure of renowned Argentine coach Gerardo Martino, the team developed a highly entertaining style of attacking football, with star player Josef Martínez winning both the MVP and Golden Boot awards in the 2018 season. As a representative of the revival of soccer in the Southeastern United States, Atlanta United not only reignited the region's passion for professional soccer but also nurtured new talent for American soccer through its youth development system.
