GD Estoril Praia, officially known as Grupo Desportivo de Estoril Praia, was founded on May 17, 1939, and is a Portuguese professional sports club based in Estoril, Cascais, Lisbon.

From its inception, the club participated in regional leagues and the Portuguese Cup. In the 1943-44 season, they reached the cup final but were defeated by Benfica. In the following season, they achieved a seventh-place finish in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, while also competing in the Portuguese Second Division and the Football Championship.

After that, the team entered a long period of rebuilding. It took 22 years in the second division before they were promoted to the top league. After Jimmy Hagen took office, the team finally successfully entered the Portuguese Primeira Liga and achieved good results, ranking eighth. In 1980, the team changed its head coach, with Fernando Santos taking over. Under his leadership, the team stabilized in the Primeira Liga. However, after his departure, the team began to decline and fell into the third division, and then remained in the third and second divisions.

After the year 2000, Ulisses Morais took over the team and led them to consecutive promotions, eventually reaching the top league. In the 2011-12 season, the team won the Honra League championship and were promoted to the Primeira Liga. Under the new owner, they successfully won a second league championship. Subsequently, the team continued to climb the ranks and returned to the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
