Heidenheim 1846 Football Club (abbreviated as "Heidenheim", English name: FC Heidenheim), founded in 1846, is a professional football club located in Heidenheim, Baden-Württemberg. Its predecessor was the gymnastics club Turngemeinde Heidenheim, established in 1846, which joined TSV 1846 Heidenheim on February 3, 1946, to form TSB 1846 Heidenheim.
On July 8, 1890, a football department was established within the association, and on August 21, 1922, it became an independent team named VfR Heidenheim. On May 27, 1972, TSB merged with VfL, connecting all these threads and allowing these football players to return to the original gymnastics club. Heidenheimer SB and its predecessor VfL Heidenheim participated in the Württemberg amateur league from 1963 to 1975 and from 1976 to 1979.
The victory in the regional cup allowed the team to participate in the first round of the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) in 1975, 1978, and 1980, after which the team gradually moved to lower-tier competitions. In the 2022-23 season, Heidenheim topped the standings ahead of Darmstadt due to a superior goal difference, earning promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history.
